Below is a picture of the Mr. Potato Head Fun Time Farmyard Playset, created in 2003. It's a delightful portable set with an opening door, cool picture lithos, and several character variations.
However,
the quality that makes this Potato Head playset particularly
significant is the fact that it includes not just Potato Heads, but
also a CARROT HEAD!
What's more, shortly afterwards, the Spud Buds set premiered, featuring
a CORN HEAD, affectionately called "Pop Corn" on the set's label.
Now,
I could be wrong, but I strongly believe that these are the first
non-Potato variations that have been created since the vintage styles in
the 60's and 70's. Could there be more to come?
